Program Introduction
The International Master of Public Administration in Belt and Road Initiative (IMPA-BRI) Program is a one-year English program delivered by the School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM), Tsinghua University. Developed out of the IMPA program, IMPA-BRI is particularly designed to expand the scope of cooperation and exchange among the BRI-participating countries, and train promising talents for the BRI countries. Featuring a curriculum that combines course studies, field research and thesis writing, the program aims to help participants:
· Gain a better understanding of China’s development experiences and of the BRI;
· Develop their analytical capability for public policy;
· Build leadership skills that are necessary for public-sector professionals.
Eligibility
1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid personal ordinary-type passport and should be citizens from countries participating in the BRI.
2) Master's Degree program applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent degree to a Bachelor's Degree (or above) in China. 3) Applicants should preferably be senior government officials, senior enterprise managers, or administrative heads and senior managerial staff of universities/ colleges/ academic institutions. 4) Applicants should be under the age of 45 before entering the university in 2024, and with at least 5 years of full-time working experience after obtaining the bachelor’s degree. 5) Applicants should have high English proficiency. 6) Applicants should be in good health and of good character, (meet the physical examination requirements stipulated by the country and THU), be well-behaved and be willing to abide by China's laws and regulations, as well as Tsinghua’s rules.
Scholarship and Fees
All successful applicants of the IMPA-BRI program will receive full scholarship provided by the Tanoto Foundation China, which covers:
1) Full tuition fee; 2) Accommodation subsidy and living allowance; 3) Medical insurance; 4) Field trip allowance. The online application fee of 800RMB should be self-covered by the applicant.
Required Application Materials
●Passport (personal ordinary-type passport): Applicants should present bio page of personal ordinary-type passport.
● Degree certificate and degree authentication. ● Academic transcript: Master's degree program applicants should submit the academic transcript of their undergraduate study. ● Personal statement: The personal statement should be completed directly in the application system. ● Two academic recommendation letters from scholars who have the title of associate professor or higher, or senior professionals in a related academic field. ● Official results of English language proficiency tests (if available): Applicants whose first language or language of instruction in their tertiary education is not English are recommended to provide evidence of English proficiency. If needed, video interviews will be conducted for prospective candidates to test their language proficiency. Background
The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road initiative, known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and has attracted close attention from all over the world. The five major goals of the BRI are: policy coordination, facilities connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people bonds.
The International Master of Public Administration in the Belt and Road Initiative (IMPA-BRI) program offered at Tsinghua SPPM is under the “Belt and Road” Talent Development Program, which is hosted by International Cooperation Center (ICC) of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Tanoto Foundation China.
